"This We'll Defend" is the first of a two movement work dedicated to the 108th United States Army Band, Commander, Timothy J. Lyden.  This first movement is subtitled, "The Brave And The Bold."  Throughout this movement the the motif from the Army's "Chiasson Song" is used and developed.  It is a slow tempo movement giving honor and reference to the 108th Army.   1st trumpet's hightest note is B.
